Alla por el 94, fui a ver el Magistral Polugaevsky, tematico de Siciliana. Fue uno de los mas grandes torneos de Argentina. Y pude verlos jugando a Karpov, Ivanchuk y por sobre todo a Valery Salov. El diario Clarin publico al finalizar el torneo: "Salov: Dueño del Ajedrez". Cuanta razon en ese titulo. Es verdad, el fue dueño en Buenos Aires y nadie olvidara su perseverancia para con el Ajedrez.

Valery Salov nacio el 26 de mayo de 1964 en Wroclaw, Polonia. Es un gran maestro de ajedrez ruso.
Salov was awarded the International Master title in 1984 and the Grandmaster title in 1986. He was the World under-17 Champion in 1980 and European Junior Champion in 1983-84. He finished 1st= with Alexander Beliavsky in the 1987 USSR Championship but lost the play-off match (+0, =2, -2), gaining the Silver Medal. At the 1988 USSR Championship he finished 3rd= with Artur Yusupov, behind Anatoly Karpov and Garry Kasparov.
