El grupo de amigos estaba conformado por un odontólogo alemán de apellido Schotmiller, He is known by "LAS MEMORIAS AJEDRECÍSTICAS" of the doctor Libardo Mejía Valderrama who exercised his profession in the municipality of Sopetrán, who in the year of 1930 he and a group of friends chess players founded a club to which they called chess club Alexander Alekhine, in honor of whom at the time was world champion.
In 1959 don Arcadio Zuluaga founds the club "MARACAIBO" that years afterwards it would be the best club of chess of Latin America and that it makes way for the formation of a great seedbed of chess.

In the eighties and novelties  the chess in Antioch already is one of our sports bastions and our league is probably the only one that has yields own, obtained for negotiations of the friends of the chess, in the year of 1983 and whose president was the current mayor of Medellin doctor Luis Perez Gutiérrez. The Powerful Move-La Jugada Poderosa. Part Eight-Octava Parte.

Teacher of Chess: Mariano Victor Piñeyro.

Allí existen varias jugadas, todas ellas, posibles Jugadas Poderosas. Veamos...

Hello my reading darlings, we will see in this occasion the seventh part, of The Powerful Move. We will begin for the game Karpov-Kasparov, Magistral Linares 1993. There exist several moves, all of them, possible Powerful Move. Let's see...

Before, for the foreign readers, the Chapter 1 explained one again, in Spanishand in English. To understand the topic of this year: The Powerful Move. Identical copy to the Chapter 1.

I have returned my reading darlings, after a well-deserved rest, here I am, with most doubts that certainties. Clear this one, with regard to 2009 and this column.

Seeing to the distance, without fixing the sight in anything especially. There they are! If if. My library, flood of books, magazines. Some made dusty, new others. All equally abundances of mysteries. Definitively they do not convince me. I need something more. But not what.

Passed several days, it comes to my mind or probably I heard her, not. The word "Powerfull", I resembled this way Blumenfeld, who in the North American magazine Chess Life. As far back as 2004, he had a section called "Powerfull Moves" or translated " Powerful moves ".

Thanks to Blumenfeld, we will see from the concept of play, up to where the literature and the games reach us. This way it is, reader has not been wrong let's begin already!

A move is a movement of a piece to a place different from the one that was on having begun, for example e4. Technically there it is not completed if the black do not answer, then, with e5, the play this 1 it completes.

Seeing it physically, this change of location towards another course, it generates a conflict, this shock along several moves, creates a combination.

In our minds, a play exists, but we see others, create so called " Kuhn's tree " and select one. We execute it. This selection names to the move"candidata", that often, it is not very effective and other times if.

En la Enciclopedia Visual del Ajedrez (Edit. Planeta, 1995, pags.109 y 110) Miguel García Baeza, clasifica asi a las jugadas:

In the Visual Encyclopedia of the Chess (Edit. Planet, 1995, pags.109 and 110) Michael García Baeza, classifies this way to the plays:

Key move: That one that is fundamental and indispensable in the combination.

Mechanical move: Realized by impulse.

Forced move: or the unique call.

Illegal move: Prohibited by the rules F.I.D.E.

Premature move: It is anticipated to the habitual moment.

Preventive move: Of assembled and custody of the position.

Besides this classification, a complex play exists. Perceptible opposite to the eyes of an expert. It is the "intermediate" move. It is a play that tries not to modify substantially the position and to cause an effect "step" similar to other games. Proving, a great advantage for the one who realizes it.

Another move is " secretes it ". If if it waits a few seconds, it secretes in this case, nothing has to see in spite of supporting it privately, it will be kept privately a few hours. A few years ago the games were suspended, had to I passed 6 hours of game and 40 were in the play. According to whom the play was fulfilling 41, this last play was placed in one on, the schedules were snatching you at the same time. And to thinking in: That will have played me?. Most of one will have annotated Resign!.

(Fuente: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajedrez_por_computadora)
There exists a play that the computers and programs of chess, they know well. It are named "Ply" or played average. The programs of computer of chess consider the movements to be a tree of game. Theoretically, they examine all the movements and then all the counter movements to these and later all his respective counter movements, and so on, where every individual movement is called "a" "fiber" or "ply". This evaluation continues until it comes to a final "leaf(sheet)" that is evaluated.

Nevertheless, a simplistic implementation of this technology would never finish in a practical quantity of time, since as consequence of this several methods have been designed to increase the speed of search for good movements.
The program Paradise of David Wiikins (1980) is the unique program of chess that was successful in the employment of the reasoning focused on a goal. It was capable of solving problems of chess in those who were controlling combinations of 18 plays.
Apart from the synthetic explanation of the "Ply", the algorithms produce alpha - thread, the minimax, etc. That work like limit to the "brute force" of the programs of chess, assembling in if, his own Artificial Intelligence.
Let's see the Great Teacher Andrew Soltis, who thinks about the current format of teaching, a classification of positions, the best moves, let's see...
Publica la revista Chess Life, Vol.59 num.

Chess Life publishes the magazine, Vol.59 num. 9, I shrivel, 2004, Págs. 24 and 25 an article of the GM Andrew Soltis, graduate Típically nontipically, in reports the following thing:

The traditional format is a lie, because it suggests that one will be able to find the best play in a typical position. The major quantity of the time one cannot, because the best play simply does not exist.

Existen cuatro categorías:

1. Posiciones de libro: Preparación de la apertura. Opera como un ajedrez en piloto automático. El jugador nada decide.
2. Posiciones Forzadas: Recapturas, jaques.El jugador nada decide.

Four categories exist:

1. Positions of book: Preparation of the opening. It operates as a chess in automatic pilot. The player decides nothing.
2. Forced positions: Reapprehensions, checks. The player decides nothing.
3. Positions of "Better" move: When the best move is possible. When there is no analysis of other players or computers that determine the "best" move. The player decides.
4. Positions of Discretionary move: For the style of game. The player decides.

These categories were analyzed in the Informer, of 3910 plays in 50 games, 29,6 % fits to the first category, the second one 5,8 %, the third one 29 %, the fourth one 35,6 %.

The authors always will say to you that in any position it is necessary to to analyze up to finding the best play and if one reads books, he will learn one since it is done. So typical...

No confundan ja.

Of all these different moves, which we have seen already. There is one that few ones know. Do not confuse ja. Excellent, good and others. This play does not take a sign to the side. This play can spend deceit on having seen the game.

If if, you have said it. This way he is. Is it the "powerful" move, wherefrom this power comes?, since the does one notice that it is a powerful move?. First let's say that if the knowledge is to be able, then I must know and later I will have the power to win.

For it, in every game that will show them, they will know to the so called "powerful" move, will see his power. They were remaining convinced in his, your power and ultimately they will know to execute it like. What for my is the move, which rubs the brilliancy, her making own, which changes one I overturn of 180 degrees the position. Ado, let's go to her firstly divided.

Comencemos...

We will see now which was the Powerful Play, in the game Karpov-Kasparov, Linares 1993. A historical source will use for it. The article published in the Daily Clarin, date March 13, 1993, written by Don Michael Najdorf in her column called Magisterial Chess. I will do trascriptión it completes of the same one. Let's begin...

Titulo del artículo: Una Partida Memorable.

I title of the article: Una Partida Memorable.

In some months Gary Kasparov will defend his wreath before the Englishman Nigel Short. Some stutters relating to her sedate of the match between the FIDE and both chess-players, they did that the champion had a lukewarm beginning in the Magisterial XIth of Linares (Spain) where playing not this Short.

Pero Kasparov, after speaking with Campomanes, last Sunday, between Monday and Tuesday I defeat to the young man great mainly Indian Wiswanathan Anand and to ex-champion world Anatoly Karpov, erasing(smearing) any doubt on his extraordinary force of game.

Such it was the forcefulness of his victory on Karpov, which I believe that the game was going on to the history as one from " his immortal ones ". Since in the times of Lasker, Capablanca or Alekhine; Kasparov taking this one to us to a level that for the present does not have limits.

There does not exist any young man who could take the title from him. As all the things in this life: everything has a beginning and an end(purpose), but that of Kasparov they are very far yet.

The one who was going to dream that Karpov in the play 22 would have all his pieces in the first line and a lost position? The hurricane of combinations that I untie Kasparov on the board from the twelfth play I force Karpov to consume a lot of time. To analyze this game is gruelling.

It does not surprise me that Karpov has lost per time, though his position already was of mate in few ones. It will try to show them some principal variants since this type of game demands the explanation of the same ones that played it.

It is probable that everything is Kasparov's study, but the form in which it finishes off the game, as was saying Keres " It Is of his own head ". This game shows the inexhaustible thing that is the chess, as any other art (painting, music, etc) never dies.

9.Td1 ( Una alternativa es 9.0-0-0, partida Beliavsky-Timman, Linares 1991)

9. Rd1 (An alternative is 9.0-0-0, game Beliavsky-Timman, Linares 1991)

9 ... a6 (surprise bigger takes me when I went to the Yugoslavian Encyclopedia and saw that my friend Bent Larsen comments on the variant and mentions the game Jáuregui-Najdorf, Mar del Plata 1953)

10... Ne5 (Is here the innovation, if it is possible to call this way to the play. Acquaintance was 10 ... de5 Gavrikov-barber, Berne 1991. The own Gavrikov suggested 10... Ne5 and this way this one in Informer 51)

14 ... b4!! (Unexpected and difficult to refute. It can be a laborator product, I don’t know)

A small incident took was produced when in the play 24 Kasparov I crown a lady and on there having no been a mint of the board I begin to cover Karpov's clock who alone tape-worm a minute to complete the 40. The ex-champion I call the umpire and add this one one more minute, but equal I do not reach.

Hitherto the reported for Najdorf. If it succeeded the Powerful Move it is 14 ... b4!!. Play of that the king takes advantage in Karpov's center, improvement to the bishop of g7, before change of horses and occupies the seventh line of the rival by means of Ra2. A single entry and that better to remain with said by Don Michael Najdorf!.

Let's see now another game, developed in Magisterial of Nanjing, China. Between Carlsen-Jakovenko, where it is possible to estimate the level and the effective training. Carried out by Kasparov, current trainer of Carlsen. Where this young value, it obtained a performance of the discharges in the history, demonstrating his endowments to be Champion of the World and leaving very far a challenging Topalov. It will wait for his your e-mail!.

Literature and Chess in the 21st century. Part Third.

Teacher of Chess: Mariano Victor Piñeyro.

Fascinante. Descubierto por un colega de Buenos Aires, Capital Federal. Comencemos el camino...

Good evenings my readers. I am amazed, before Carlos Tovar Díaz's opinion. Excellent in any sense. Very complete and pleasant. But it will not be quite. Ultimately we will see another point of view. Fascinating. Discovered by a colleague of Buenos Aires, The Federal Capital. Let's begin the way...

The Chess in the Literature

For Carlos Tovar Díaz

A continuación mencionaré algunos breves ejemplos.

The times are not small that the literature has told histories related to the chess. Authors of different epochs and of diverse parts of the world have written on this beautiful game. Later I will mention some brief examples.

In " The Love in the Times of the Cholera " (1983) of the famous Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez, Juvenal Urbino, one of the principal prominent figures of this intimate novel, was a passionate player of chess, who was in the habit of playing with Jeremiah de Saint-Amour, who in turn, as it was said, had earned an game him to the very same Capablanca.

Milan Kundera, writer of Czech origin, in " The Book of the Laugh and the Oblivion " (1978), colors one of the tickets of the history of a personage called Karel, who in a moment of enthusiasm shouts " I am a Bobby Fischer, am a Bobby Fischer ", doing an analogy between your sexual power and the force ajedrecística of the champion world eccentric of 1972.

But the chess not only has intervened to color some tickets of the histories told by the big teachers of the literature but it has managed to be one of the principal elements of the fiction.

I will begin with the writer English Lewis Carrol, who in " Across The Mirror " (1871), does again part of the famous "Alice in Wonderland" (1865), he tells a history riddled with cards of chess in which Alicia in the role of a white laborer crowns queen on having come to the eighth cabin and desire in eleven plays.

The Peruvian writer Ricardo Palma, in his " Peruvian Traditions " (1872-1899), narrates the supposed duel chessboard between the Inca Atahualpa and the Spanish conqueror Francisco Pizarro.

" The Defense " (1930) of the Russian Vadimir Navokov is different of the novels in that the chess is a fundamental element of the plot. The protagonist is a great teacher of name Luzhin who finds in the chess a harmony that contrasts with your tormented life. The history of this novel was taken to the cinema in the year 2000, and took the excellent actors John Turturro as protagonists as Luzhin and Emily Watson as Natalia, the lady of this checkered history.

Stefan Zweig, writer of Austrian origin, wrote " The player of Chess " (1941) who narrates the history of a doctor who for a singular circumstance faces Czentovic, an ex-child prodigy and world champion of chess in the fiction.

The writer and mathematical Brazilian Malba Tahan, in his famous book " The Man who Was Calculating " (1946) I fill of histories that turn around mathematical curiosities tells the legend of the creation of the chess, according to which I play this one it was invented by a young Brahmin to pacify the sadness of a Hindu king who had lost your son in a battle. For your their part, in 1960 the extraordinary Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges dedicated to the chess a pretty poem in which it gives him an almost divine character to this game.

Woody Allen, the brilliant North American filmmaker, also has met attracted by this game. In his book " How (1974) finish once and for all with the Culture ", there is a nice history chess qualified " How to finish with the chess " that tells an absurd game for correspondence between two players of chess, Vanderbedian and Gossage, in which, for an apparent mistake in the correspondence, each one affirms that it relies on a winning position.

A more recent example on histories around the chess is the successful novel of police cut of the Spanish writer Arturo Perez-Reverte " The Table of Flanders " (1990). In her the chess is the key to find an assassin, who leaves tracks of his following steps across problems of chess.

By the way I have left ultimately Edgar Allan Poe, one of the big teachers of the universal literature, who displayed of your extraordinary analytical and deductive capacity in a test published in 1836, in which he demonstrated that the player of Maelzel's chess, supposed automaton that it was playing the chess, was controlled indeed by a person who was remaining secret under the card table. Nevertheless, in spite of your privileged analytical mind, Poe did not manage to catch the major depth of this game with regard to the ladies' game.

In effect, in the introductory part of his famous statement " Crimes in the Rue Morgue " (1841), Poe indicates that the major difficulty of the chess takes root in the complex movement of her cards, which demands more attention than the ladies' game, but in the latter, of simpler movements, the difficulty is based on a major analytical depth with regard to the chess.

The programs of computers would allow to demonstrate that Poe was wrong. While to the date with the use of these programs the algorithm has revealed itself to earn a ladies' game, the algorithm of the chess remains secret and gets lost in the infinite of the possibilities of this game. Something more remained demonstrated, Poe, in spite of her extraordinary analytical capacity, did not manage to understand the depth of the chess!

Hitherto, he was thinking about the deep thing. It will publish in a monotonous way, opinions hereby. It is a vagrancy!. So not, I discovered thanks to the destiny. A very relevant opinion.

This beautiful work, precise and suggestive, that incorporates the chess into developments linked to the literature and the science of the language, us contributes a key of your nature and our comprehension raises on his sense and meaning, allowing us a projection a world that overcomes the limits of the board.

The polemic form / substance has produced hundreds of pages and debates from the epoch of the Greeks in relation with the most diverse topics, from the existence of the man up to the language. If the substance is that one that in any thing is the essential thing, the most important part, since the dictionaries define it, the chess and the language they have had much that to say in against, from the irruption of the structuralism in last century.

The methodology structuralize helped the theoretical ones of the chess to think about more systematic form about the search of instruments for the analysis of strategic situations. Respect of the language, while at the end of the 19th century the studies were centering in his historical character (1) and mothers were trying to find the languages, a Swiss linguist, Ferdinand de Saussure (1857-1913), threw the judgment " The language is a system of pure forms ". Suddenly a word happened to be a linguistic sign which specificity was residing in being composed by the significant one or form and a meaning or content.

There was imposed a cut that was limiting a new object of study: the language like system of signs in which every unit was defining his place for examination to others. A linguistic sign was what other one was not.

The metaphor of the language I play Saussure, which would go on to the posterity as the father of the modern linguistics, he thought that the best parallel one to explain what he understood for the system of the language was the game of chess.
Already the philosopher and mathematical German Leibniz (1646-1716), when they asked him about the utility of the chess, held that " the wealth of ideas of the man has his better manifestation in the game ".

We do not know with what depth Saussure it knew the chess, but it does not seem to us to be chance that was resorting to him as metaphor of a new theory, which was trying to channel the linguistic studies contributing rigor and precise definitions.

For Saussure, in the language there happened naturally what in the chess one was presenting artificially. Of there that the thousand-year-old game was serving him for metaforizar the principal terms of reference on which his investigations were resting.

" In both games we are before a system of values and are present at his modifications. First, a condition of game corresponds to a condition of the language. The respective value of the pieces depends on his position on the board the same as in the language every end takes her value as an examination with all the rest ends. Secondly, the system is never any more that momentary, it changes from a position to other one.
It is that the values depend on an immutable convention, " the rule of the game ", held Saussure (2).

In the chess a bishop or a Lady are not in yes the same elements of the game, since in your materiality, out of the cabin and doing without the rules, do not represent anything for the player. They turn into real elements when they are placed in the board in relation by other pieces. Therefore it is inside the system of the game, constituted by the set of the pieces located in the board, with his your rules and specifications, where each one acquires your value, that is to say, his particularity that the difference of the rest.

Let's see like there operate the notions of value and form in the system of the language across an example. Let's take the linguistic signs/leg/and/beats/. What allows me to recognize a different meaning is not any more than the change than a form, than the phoneme (3)/p/for/b/. Each of which does not have any particular meaning, except inside the language where they acquire a precise value from which I can recognize different signs.

Nikolai Troubetskoy (1890-1938), Russian linguist belonging to the School of Prague, who takes to the practice the theory of Saussure (4) for the phonological level (5) of the language, indicated that alone the distinctive features are pertinent since there allow to establish " intellectual meanings ", that is to say, different meanings. Continuing with our example, only they matter/b/and/p/because they allow me to establish different meanings inside the system of the Castilian language. And this is like that because in the above mentioned system these phonemes have a different value. Out of the system of the language/p/and/b/are not at all.

Without rules Viennese has not divided Ludwing Wittgenstein (1889-1951), philosopher neoempirista that devoted itself to the study of the language, it recaptured the metaphor Saussereana to make clear that it is a word, relating her to the piece of chess. To compare both systems his strong normative base emphasized, that is to say, the cardinal importance of the rules that govern both the movements of the board and the use of the words.

Wittgenstein says: " If to explain to someone the function that the king develops in the chess he should say to him - this one is the king-, my speaker still remain like it was. This alone information would be valid for a person who already knew perfectly the regulation of the game but was ignoring the physical aspect of the king. The chess is a closed game that has his definite rules as the language ". Here Wittgenstein is emphasizing that the form nothing would be without the value, which defines his specificity. Value and form are solidary, and both are subordinated to the rules that govern the system.

In the appointment transcripta of Saussure one indicates that the rule is an immutable value. In that felt?, we Might wonder. In the sense that if I modify a rule will produce a reclassification to itself in the whole system and a change in the value of the units that compose it. Therefore, of the study of a language in a moment there will be obtained the rules that determine his functioning, which will be in agreement with the value of each one of the linguistic present signs in this state of language.

In this point we can find an element that differentiates the system of the language of the chess, while the rules of the latter seemed to be given once y for all. Nevertheless if a rule is thought as the element to which a game of chess is subordinated to be coherent and legible, doing without the temporary coordinate, it returns to activate the comparison. In the system of the language, this one sees in every moment limited the combinatorial possibility for the rules of the grammar to produce understandable terms of reference.

From now, only it will mention the relevant thing on Literature and Chess written by Gustavo Aguila. Inside his content, he spreads himself on other aspects, which alone would make tire his valued sight.

Another writer, the Frenchman Paul Valery (1871-1945), of whom Jorge Luis Borges could say, ". Prefer always the lucid pleasures of the thought and the secret adventures of the order ", heunderstood the poem as a process of construction always unfinished. His sublime conception of the art was translated in demanding to the words the precise content. This way the chess in which the random remains excluded, was waking passion up.
It was in the habit of breathing to that the players of chess were moving his intellectual capacities to other arts as the letters and the philosophy: " since many people realize more combinations that almost all the literary authors ", he was holding.

Recapturing the relation of the language and the literature with the chess, we think that one of the best syntheses of the similarities between both systems, the language - with his combinatorial possibilities that reach his maximum unfolding inside the field of the literature - and the chess - with his possibility of moving the rules of the above mentioned game to other arts-, is Nobokov's following reflection: " The problems are the poetry of the chess ". That can be the point of game, or of arrival, for a game of chess or for terms of reference.

Notas: Notes:

1) The studies on the language previous were centering Saussure on the historical aspect of the languages, on his origin and evolution.

2) The appointment is in already classic “Year of General Linguistics " (1916). This book of posthumous edition, it compiles a series of classes that Saussure dictated, in agreement with the notes of two of your pupils who gathered and publpublished them.

3) A phoneme is a minimal unit that in the system of a language allows a significant contrast which materialization is given by means of a sound.

4) Troubetskoy re-defines the notion Saussereana of "value" in ends of "function". It is because of it that registers, inside the structuralism, in the line of the functionalists.

5) The structuralisms divide the language in levels. The phonological level studies the telephone numbers that are the abstract representation of the phonemes

.
En 2002 ganó el campeonato sueco de Skara.

He has an aggressive, attacking style and is known for playing unusual chess openings. He is also an International Grandmaster of Correspondence Chess.
Swedish Grandmaster (1991). Hector is also a Correspondence Grandmaster with an ICCF ELO of 2616.Hector grew up in Malmö, but he lives in Denmark.

In 1978, Jonny Hector had learnt the rules of chess and wanted to join a chess club. Hector has been called “Sweden’s bravest chess player”, a label which has stuck with him for many years, and even today this holds true. Hector still runs head-first into complications and has created a string of beautiful miniatures. Hector is the club players’ hero, mostly due to his choice of openings. During the years, he has played many a Goering gambit, Latvian gambit, Schara-Henning gambit, and other openings along the same lines. However, in the last few years, a small change of course has come about. It takes more solid stuff to deal with top competition. The Swedish chess magazine “Tidskrift för schack” declared 2002 “The Year of Hector”.

He won the Swedish Championship for the first time in 2002 and a number of other nice results brought him over the magic 2600 rating threshold. Since then, he has had mixed results and his rating is somewhat lower. Won also the Capelle la Grande in 1987, Rilton Cup 1992-93, Gausdal 1998, Hamburg 2000 and 2001, Skelleftei 2001 and Politiken Cup in 1998 and 2008.

Best ELO: 2609 in 2010.

A disfrutar mis lectores...

Here are some games from this amazing player. Of whom I am a fan since 88. Of those who use several ideas. Hector is a great example for the rest of the chess players. We show that can bottom. You just have to have faith and mind ready for the challenge.
