Fui llamado a concurrir a la Escuela Municipal de Ajedrez Fray Ruy López de Sigura a los fines de cumplir ciertos recaudos administrativos, pero obviamente habiendo concluido ello, mire a mí alrededor y vi una clase a lo lejos, tome aire y con cautela decidí sentarme solo para descubrir que maravillas se estaban viendo.

Después de esto y con 24 años, regreso a Lvov y no le gustaba trabajar en ajedrez solo, nunca tuvo un libro en su casa sobre ajedrez, tan solo se intereso en la década del sesenta por los libros, también es de destacar que en su casa no había un solo tablero de ajedrez!!, con la ayuda de Geller recién en 1959 Leonid estaba listo para la elite del ajedrez.

Cabe pensar si Leonid Stein no hubiera desaparecido tan pronto, el mundo del ajedrez seria muy diferente, pero la intención de este articulo es recordar a este campeón sin corona con todos los honores de un gran campeón, y por mi parte agradecer la formidable clase del Profesor de la Escuela Municipal de Ajedrez Fray Ruy López de Sigura MI Diego Valerga, por haberme apasionado aun más con la maestría de este gran maestro con mayúsculas: LEONID STEIN (1934-1973).
